# Pre-recorded audio

> Upload reusable audio, review its transcript, and select it for a greeting, goodbye, or tool message.

Upload reusable audio, review its transcript, and select it for a greeting, goodbye, or tool message.

## Prerequisites

* Access to the organization’s **Recordings** area.
* An audio file or microphone permission for a new recording.

## Upload and use a recording

1. Open **Recordings** and choose **Upload**.
2. Select one or more audio files, or choose **Record** and provide a filename.
3. Review or edit the generated transcript for each file.
4. Upload only items with a completed transcript.
5. Select the recording from a Start Call, End Call, HTTP tool, or transfer message field.

## Constraints and failure states

The Console accepts audio files up to 5 MB each. Microphone access is required for browser recording. A recording that is still transcribing or has no transcript cannot be uploaded; playback and selection use the organization’s recording inventory.

## Protect your data

Recordings and transcripts can contain personal information. Obtain the needed consent, name files without sensitive identifiers, and remove unused recordings when policy allows.
